Highway 36 Crash update

Lac La Biche RCMP say a 37-year-old Lac La Biche woman is in an Edmonton hospital following a head-on crash just south of Lac La Biche on Monday night.

Police say the woman, the lone occupant of a pickup truck that collided with a semi truck on Highway 36 near Township Road 662A, is in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 48-year old man from Leduc did not suffer any serious physical injuries in the crash that closed down the highway for several hours.

RCMP say a 911 call was received at about 6:15 pm on January 23 about a multi-vehicle crash on the highway near the Bonesville subdivision. Lac La Biche RCMP, Emergency Medical Services, Lac La Biche Fire Services and Lac La Biche County Peace Officers attended.

The section of highway was closed for more than six hours, opening to north and south-bound traffic at approximately 12:45 Tuesday morning.

Police have not identified if charges are expected in the crash. Their investigation is on going, and further updates will be provided when additional information is available.
