LAC LA BICHE - It's a belated birthday party and a night of culture, great food and perhaps a bagpipe song or two at the Lac La Biche Legion on March 4
The Robbie Burns Night in Lac La Biche will be taking over the lakeside legion for a night of food, music, history and laughs.
The annual celebrations held in honour of the 18th Century Scottish poet normally takes place around his January 25 birthday, but organizer Molly Fyten said unforeseen circumstances caused the delay. Despite the date change, Fyten says the night will still be a great party including a traditional Scottish meal including haggis. For those a wee bit nervous about the delicacy, roast beef will also be plated for the licensed event.

Burns was born on Jan. 25, 1759 in south-west Scotland, and died in 1796. In those 37 years, he fathered 12 children and wrote some of the world's most notable and well-known poems and verses, including the New Year standard "Auld Lang Syne" and "Scots Wha Hae", a song that was, for a time, the national anthem of Scotland.
