GLENDON – Firefighters from Station 3 Glendon were dispatched to a call of a potential gas leak at the Glendon Hotel on April 13.

Responding at 12:15 p.m., the local gas utility company informed the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority “that there was indeed a leak, but that they had isolated the valve and ensured the leak had been stopped,” stated Regional Fire Chief Dan Heney.

“Crews were unable to make contact with the building owner and had to forcibly access the building,” continued Heney.

“Once access was made, crews systematically cleared any remaining natural gas through a process called positive pressure ventilation.”

Once the building atmosphere was cleared of residual gas, the Village of Glendon’s public works members boarded up the access points to maintain security of the building, stated the fire chief.
