Kinosoo skiers and snowboarders get a lift

A new four-person chairlift is up and running at Kinosoo Ridge Resort’s ski hill this season, replacing the 40-year-old green chairlift. The upgrade came with a price tag of just over $4.2 million.

On Dec. 15, MD of Bonnyville council members were on hand for a tour of the renovations at Kinosoo Ridge Resort and to take the inaugural ride on the ski hill’s brand-new chairlift.

BONNYVILLE – As the skiing season gets under way at the Kinosoo Ridge Resort, snowboarders and skiers will be hitching a ride up the hill from a brand-new chairlift.

A new four-person chairlift and a few required renovations were in place at Kinosoo for its official 2022/2023 snow season opening on Dec. 16.

The ski hill’s previous green chair lift, which shuttled skiers to the top of the hill for over 40 years, was officially shut down at the end of last season.

Over the spring and summer, contractors removed the triple chairlift and replaced it with a new, faster, quad chairlift that was manufactured in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The project, which came in at just over $4.2 million was the largest in a series of upgrades at Kinosoo Ridge.

“It’s great to see these upgrades at Kinosoo Ridge,” said Reeve Barry Kalinski. “Our residents have a lot of fun out here and it brings in many visitors from across the province.”

Members of MD council took a tour of Kinosoo’s latest renovations and tested out the new chairlift with an inaugural ride on Dec. 15.

The reeve noted that MD residents are fortunate to have such a facility within the municipality.

Other upgrades at Kinosoo Ridge Resort include the Aerial Adventure Park which opened earlier this year, and the recently completed renovations in the resort’s customer service and kitchen areas, which came costed about $300,000.
