As Tuesday night wore on, more evacuees made their way into Lac La Biche, one of the provincial evacuation centres for people fleeing a forest fire near Fort McMurray that is threatening parts of the northern city.

Lac La Biche RCMP and municipal peace officers have been patrolling local roadways and highways, assisting motorists looking for shelter. Traffic has been steady on Highway 881 to Fort McMurray, but going into Tuesday night, numbers were light.

The Parkland II hotel on the west side of the Lac La Biche hamlet is the registration centre for evacuees.  Those with campers and trailers are asked to check into the registration centre before going to area campsites, like the municipal campsite at the Bold Center Sports Fields that opened early for evacuees.
