LAC LA BICHE - From classic Honky Tonk melodies to the screaming guitar and loud drums of a Marilyn Manson song — and everything in between, students in the J.A. Williams Music program hosted their annual Songwriters' Cafe on Thursday night.
A crowd of more than 100 people filled the Lac La Biche high school's common area for 90 minutes of music and song from students.
Music teacher Andrew Booth opened the night with a shout-out to former JAWS Fine Arts teacher, and now Aurora Middle School Music teacher Aimee Berland, who began the student showcase several years ago.
A mix of self-written songs and popular covers kept the audience entertained. The night also offered up light snacks from the high school's Interact Club, raising funds for community and school projects in partnership with the Lac La Biche Rotary Club.
The Music students are planning an outdoor, festival-style showcase in the coming weeks.
