LAC LA BICHE - Lac La Biche RCMP say two police vehicles were responding to a reported break and enter complaint on Tuesday afternoon, arriving at the home located north of the Lac La Biche downtown with lights and sirens activated.
The house, a run-down property along 102 Avenue with nailed boards across window openings and debris in the front yard, is the same location that police tactical units surrounded in November of 2021. That incident resulted in the arrest of two men in connection to a shooting at the Beaver Lake Cree Nation that left a 41 year old Lac La Biche man dead.
On Tuesday, responding to the 2:30 pm call, two RCMP officers were seen walking around the house, checking for possible access points, and using flashlights to illuminate areas of the property. The officers remained at the scene for about 15 minutes before leaving.
Lac La Biche RCMP Const. Jordan Walker said the complaint of a break-in has been classified as "unfounded."
