LAC LA BICHE - Two people have been arrested in connection to the recovery of at least 11 vehicles that police say were stolen and kept at a rural property on the Beaver Lake Cree Nation.
On Oct. 17, Lac La Biche RCMP released information about the property search that took place on Oct. 3.
Police say they found seven stolen trucks, two stolen trailers, a stolen golf cart, and a stolen dirt bike when they executed a search warrant at the property. In addition, multiple suspected stolen vehicle parts, licence plates, and vehicle chassis were also recovered, say police.
The names of the two people arrested are not yet being released, say police as formal charges have still not been laid in connection to the find. The two people are not being held in custody as the investigation continues. No court date has been issued in relation to the file, with Acting Lac La Biche RCMP Detachment Commander Sgt. Trevor Cardinal saying an update will be made soon.
Cardinal is saying that the recent find is part of an on-going, repetitive, and connected series of criminal activity in the area.
“This is the third search warrant that Lac La Biche RCMP have executed at this same property in four years. The Lac La Biche RCMP will continue to target this activity in our efforts at crime reduction to ensure a safer community for the residents of Beaver Lake and Lac La Biche County,” he said.
Lac La Biche RCMP encourage the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity, saying the reports tell them where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future.
