Pair arrested in LLB car-wash crashing incident

Two people in court this week facing several charges in relation to car wash crash-and-dash from police

LAC LA BICHE - A 32-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man — both with no fixed address — have been arrested and charged with several offences in relation to a June 12 incident at a Lac La Biche car-wash where police say a pickup truck reportedly rammed into another vehicle its occupants attempted to get away from police.

Lac La Biche RCMP were initially called to Louie's Car Wash on the Monday afternoon on reports of an alleged fraud happening inside the business. When police arrived, they say the two occupants of a pickup truck smashed into another customer's vehicle to get out of the main doors of the car-wash. In the initial press release about the incident, police say one person was injured as a result of the collision.

The pickup was followed by police for a short distance, but the pursuit was called off when the driver began operating the vehicle erratically.

Police had video surveillance of the suspects, which assisted with the investigation and arrest.

James Dean Lameman, 29 and Samantha Binkowski, 32 are facing charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime, theft under $5,000, mischief, and failing to stop after a collision causing bodily harm.

Binkowski was also charged with an additional count of driving while suspended.

Lameman and Binkowski have been in custody since their arrest. They are slated to be in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac La Biche this week.
