Police search for car-wash crasher

Female driver suspected of ramming vehicles and person in Lac La Biche car wash escape

RCMP say the driver of a pickup truck who used the vehicle as a battering ram on Monday afternoon to evade police inside a Lac La Biche carwash, is still on the loose.

RCMP say the truck — reportedly driven by a woman with a male passenger — collided with another vehicle and injured a man inside the local business as the driver attempted to get away as police responded to a complaint of an alleged fraud.

RCMP, municipal peace officers and a fire department rapid response vehicle responded to the call at about 2:30 pm. Despite police attempting to block exits to the building with emergency vehicles, they say the pickup managed to escape from the car wash, making its way through a school zone and into a residential area leading to Highway 36, where a short police pursuit took place. The pursuit was called off a short time later as the pickup truck was reportedly being driven in an erratic and dangerous manner.

The vehicle is described as a dark blue Blue Dodge pickup truck bearing a stolen Alberta Licence Plate CNL-0822.

RCMP continue the search for the suspects as well as the vehicle.

Security footage from the car wash identified both the driver and passenger of the vehicle. The driver is described as a female with a medium build, medium complexion, and white dyed hair.

The passenger is described as a man with a medium complexion, about 240 pounds with a stocky build. He has short dark hair. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a white tank top.

Details on the injuries to the person inside the car wash building was not made available by RCMP.

Anyone with information about the incident, the suspects or the vehicle is asked to contact the local RCMP detachment at 780-623-4380. If you wish to remain anonymous you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1‐800‐222‐8477 (TIPS).
