Portions of Hwy 63 near Wandering River closed due to Friday truck crash

Reports that dangerous goods involved

Poor driving conditions due to icy road surfaces across the northeast part of the province on Friday resulted in a crash on Higwhay 63 that closed a portion of the north-south travel route for several hours.

Lac La Biche County officials were saying that a serious vehicle collision involving dangerous goods closed the highway's southbound lanes from Mariana Lake to Wandering River for several hours. The crash was reported at about 5:30 pm.

Municipal emergency crews were dispatched to the crash, and a followup bulletin issued at 11 pm said the highway had re-opened,  but no further report on the incident was available by press deadline.

RCMP have yet to issue information on the crash.

Because of the road conditions, Lac La Biche County officials were recommending that motorists avoiding travel in the area if possible.
