Positive comments continue on changes in schools

Good news continues

Each board meeting of school trustees in the region, Francophone, public and Catholic, has time put aside for purposeful "Good News" items.  Student awards, teaching accomplishments, donations and other accolades are brought to light by trustees around the table.

And a pandemic hasn't stopped the highlights from happening.

"...there are many wonderful things happening in our schools"

                                            — NLPS communications manager Nicole Garner

After a year of challenges and changes to all schools due to COVID-19 protocols, bright spots can still be found — and even flourish, says NLPS communications manager Nicole Garner, explaining the continued Good News portion of the board's regular meetings.

"What we are seeing with our Good News highlights is that as much as this has been a challenging year due to COVID-19, our students and staff are learning together, finding opportunities to celebrate and have fun, and discovering new ways to do things," said Garner. "Sometimes there is a tendency to focus on the things we aren't able to do, or are missing out on or have to be done differently — but there are many wonderful things happening in our schools, a lot of joy, and a lot to celebrate."
