COLD LAKE - Cold Lake RCMP have charged a local teacher with child pornography-related offences following an incident involving a 16-year-old student.

On April 23, police received a complaint of alleged voyeurism that had occurred at a Cold Lake-area high school.

As a result of the RCMP's investigation, 33-year-old Cold Lake resident James Neil Morrison was arrested a few days later.

Morrison, who is a teacher with the Lakeland Catholic School District (LCSD), has been charged with voyeurism and making/printing/publishing child pornography.

LCSD has confirmed that once they had heard of the allegations, Morrison was immediately suspended and will not be returning to the classroom until the matters have concluded in court.

The school district has also hired their own investigator who is looking into the allegations.

He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Cold Lake court June 16.
