ELIZABETH METIS SETTLEMENT – A 44-year-old man from Elizabeth Métis Settlement has died after sustaining a gunshot wound on April 27.
At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Cold Lake RCMP responded to call of a shooting in Elizabeth Métis Settlement.
A male victim was taken to hospital, but died as a result of his injuries, according to a media release provided by RCMP.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
RCMP believe this was a targeted attack and that there is no threat to the public.
The victim has been taken to the Edmonton Office of the Medical Examiner where an autopsy is scheduled for April 29, state RCMP.
No other details have been released at this time.
