RCMP Major Crimes search for man with Lac La Biche connections

Missing man's disappearance considered suspicious

LAKELAND - The RCMP's Major Crimes unit and the Lac La Biche RCMP have issued a missing person's report for Landy Shirt.

The 31-year-old man has family connections in the Maskwacis area, but was believed to have been in the Lac La Biche and Goodfish Lake areas from December 6 to 8.

RCMP say his family called police on Dec. 8, saying they had last seen him on Dec. 3 in Maskwacis.

The last confirmed sighting of Shirt was at 7 a.m. on Dec. 6 in Goodfish Lake. RCMP believe he may have travelled to the Lac La Biche area a short time later.

Shirt is described as an Indigenous male, standing 5ft 9in tall, weighing 180 lbs with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Suspicious

The RCMP's Major Crimes unit is handling the case, explaining in a Sunday afternoon press release that their involvement is because "circumstances surrounding the disappearance are considered suspicious."
