Saskatchewan RCMP issue Alberta-wide warrant for woman on child abuse charges

Lakeland area included in search for wanted Saskatchewan woman

Police say a North Battleford, Saskatchewan woman wanted on child neglect charges stemming back to February of last year, may have links to the Lloydminster and Edmonton areas.

Alberta and Saskatchewan RCMP have now issued province-wide arrest warrants for Charmaine Brett Bear, (also known as Charmaine Spyglass), 34.

RCMP have not been able to locate Bear since early 2021 when North Battleford police say they were investigating a report of alleged child abuse. In January of 2021, she was charged with one count of failing to provide the necessities of life and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm. As a result of the continuing investigation, RCMP say Bear is now also facing charges of aggravated assault, common assault and uttering threats.

Charmaine Brett Bear is described as being 5'6" tall, 123 pounds with a slender build. She has long, black hair that is often worn tucked under a ball cap. She has brown eyes, is known to wear baggy clothing, and often wears sunglasses indoors.

RCMP believe the woman may be travelling with 34-year-old Llyle Aaron Bear. Police say the two likely have several children with them.

Aaron Bear is facing several Criminal Code charges including failing to provide the necessities of life, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, uttering threats and assault with a weapon. Aaron Bear is not part of the arrest warrant, and has a scheduled court day set for January 18 in North Battleford.

Police say Charmaine Brett Bear is believed to be "actively evading police" and travelling between the Mosquito First Nation in west-central Saskatchewan, North Battleford, Lloydminster and Edmonton.

RCMP are asking members of the public with any information about the location of Charmaine Brett Bear to contact CRIME STOPPERS or their nearest police service immediately.
