St. Paul massage therapist charged with sexual assault

Police believe there may be other victims, and are asking anyone affected to come forward.

ST. PAUL – On Thursday, St. Paul RCMP announced that a 23-year-old individual from St. Paul had been charged with two counts of sexual assault following an investigation by police. 

According to St. Paul RCMP, police received a complaint of a sexual assault by a massage therapist, which allegedly occurred during a massage appointment on June 4. 

A second victim came forward to police four days later, on June 8, with allegations of sexual assault, which also allegedly occurred during a massage therapy appointment.   

Layne Whelen, 23, was subsequently charged.

The accused has been released with conditions and is next scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial court on Nov. 18, according to RCMP.

The victims have been contacted by the St. Paul Victim Services department, police say. RCMP also believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone affected to come forward.
