ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Municipal Library will be reopening its doors soon, but residents will have to wait a few more weeks as staff members are trained on new measures that will be in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last week, an emergency meeting was held by the St. Paul Municipal Library Board following the Government of Alberta's announcement that libraries would be allowed to reopen in Phase 2 of the province's relaunch strategy, reported Town of St. Paul Coun. Norm Noel during the Committee of the Whole meeting on June 11.

A date of July 6 has been set for the library to be open to the public. A list of safety protocols has been sent to libraries by the provincial government. The library also had to put a plan together prior to moving ahead with reopening.

Town council passed a motion during the Committee of the Whole meeting to approve the request from the St. Paul Municipal Library to reopen its doors to the public, as long as the provincial guidelines and the approved plan is adhered to.
