A St. Paul man has been charged with possession of child pornography following an investigation conducted over several months and involving both the St. Paul RCMP and ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit.

A search warrant of a residence in St. Paul on Feb. 5 culminated with the arrest of Ronald Joseph Belzil, 65, of St. Paul on Feb. 19. He has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography and was released on condition to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on March 12.

St. Paul RCMP Sgt. David Graham told the St. Paul Journal Tuesday morning the investigation was specific to one individual and was internet based and did not involve local youth.

“There are no children at risk here in the community,” Graham said.
