ST. PAUL - Rock The Block returns to St. Paul’s downtown core this Thursday, Aug. 18 with live music, children’s activities and several vendors on hand to have a party in the park.
Event organizer Judith Hess of Champions for Change said activities are being centered at the Lions Park on Main Street, but she said there is plenty of opportunity for the business sector to get involved in the fun. She said local businesses along Main Street have all been invited and are encouraged to open their doors wide and set up sidewalk sales, information tables or door prizes to welcome people downtown.
FCSS is providing a variety of games for children, Candice Braun will be doing some glitter tattoos, St. Paul and District Arts Foundation will be on hand, Paws and Claws will be offering up free popcorn at its downtown location and providing nail trimming by donation to Ryan’s Rescue. Keeping the music going throughout the day will be Russ Kowtun and Norm Noel. Several vendors will also set up tables at the park.
Hess said a couple of local food trucks will be on hand at the park and she is hoping people will make their way downtown during the event which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“It’s time to reconnect with people,” Hess said of one of key themes behind this year’s event. “It’s nice to see people smile again, we’ve been masked for so long.”
Garage Sales
Two people have registered their garage sales with the event so deal hunters are encouraged to stop by 4836-49 Ave. and 4901-45 Ave. during the day to shop their yard sales.
