Two men charged following search warrant

Local RCMP arrested and charged two men with a long list of firearm and weapons related charges.

SADDLE LAKE - Two men were arrested and charged following a search warrant in Saddle Lake that was executed last week.

On March 13, police were called to a residence in Saddle Lake Cree Nation in relation to two men who were allegedly looking for a third person, and were in possession of a firearm.

Further investigation resulted in police locating the two men and arresting them. RCMP then executed a search warrant on a residence.

"Several weapons and firearms were seized as well as ammunition," according to St. Paul RCMP.

Francis Primeau, 25, of Saddle Lake, was charged with a number of Criminal Code offences, including:

  • Possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without licence/registration
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle
  • Possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization (x2)
  • Common Nuisance - endanger life
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Other Criminal Code charges were also laid.

Tyson Hunter, 48. of Saddle Lake, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Fail to comply with release order condition (x5)
  • Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization
  • Common Nuisance - endanger life
  • Operation while prohibited (x2)
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x3)

He was charged with several additional Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges.

Both men were remanded after an Interim Judicial Hearing and will appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on March 18, 2021.
