LAC LA BICHE - A 35-year-old man is facing 10 criminal charges after last week's police pursuit that started in the Barrhead area and ended 225 kilometres away in Lac La Biche, The pursuit saw RCMP officers tracking a late model Dodge pickup truck across the region using GPS coordinates shared to them by the vehicle's owner. The pursuit drew more than a dozen RCMP vehicles along the way.

When the truck drove into the ditch along Highway 55 just west of the hamlet of Lac La Biche, the pursuit had drawn RCMP members of the roving Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, as well as Mounties from Barrhead, Boyle, Athabasca and Lac La Biche. A police dog services team was among the officers involved, and was used to quickly apprehend a suspect who ran from the scene.

Police say there was only one occupant of the truck.

Taylor Kirk Curl, 35, of no fixed address is facing charges of flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of break-in tools, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and two counts of failing to comply with court orders.

Curl was remanded into custody until a Dec. 20 court date in the Morinville. An update on the court date will follow when information is available.
