Wes Janz of the Goodridge 4-H Club was recently recognized for being part of the 4-H organization for 30 years. In honour of the accomplishment, Janz answered a few questions regarding his experience with 4-H.

Why did you become involved in 4-H?
Jeremy my son joined at eight years old and I wanted to be apart of the club. I had always wanted to be as a kid.

What would be your funniest memory of being in 4-H?
When a steer jumped on my truck and caused some damage.

What advice would you give to other people looking to get involved in 4-H?
Roll up your sleeves and go in to it wholeheartedly. It is the best program out there for youth.

Briefly tell us some of the jobs you have had over the years in 4-H?
Some jobs were: organizing public speaking and steer and heifer shows, attend meetings, and it was always about having fun, wherever I go.

What advice would you give to all 4-H members?
Do the best you can and have fun doing it.

How do you see the future for 4-H in Alberta?
Agriculture is struggling now, but 4-H helps to keep the community alive. The numbers for 4-H members through the years have been a rollercoaster (up and down), but I would like to see 4-H go for another 30 years.

Goodridge 4-H would like to thank Wes and Monica for all their years of support and assistance.
