What is the draft K-6 plan? And why are schools turning it down?

NLPS joins others on sidelining draft plan

There has been a lot of talk recently about the provincial government's pilot program for the draft Kindergarten to Grade 6 curriculum in Alberta schools. Today, the chairperson of the Northern Lights Schools trustee board confirmed that NLPS schools won't be part of the draft pilot plan.

"We support Administrations’ decision not to proceed at this time, as this will only add to the stress and anxiety our students and staff are already experiencing," NLPS board chairperson Arlene Hrynyk said late this afternoon.

The announcement is the latest in a series of similar decisions by school divisions across the Lakeland and across the province.
