The Lakers, who have won 13 consecutive games, defeated the High Prairie Red Wings on Feb. 21 in High Prairie. The team, who holds second spot in the National Junior Hockey League (NJHL) North Division, lost at home to the first place Edson Eagles on Feb. 23.

The Lakeland Panthers U18 AA team found success in Las Vegas.

The Lac La Biche Lakers, who began their inaugural season in the National Junior Hockey League (NJHL) in October, have 13 straight wins and sit in second place in the NJHL North Division standings.

The St. Paul Canadiens U15 female team is hosting the ‘U15 Female B’ Hockey Alberta Provincial Championship in St. Paul from March 27 to 3 and the Timbits Future All-Star game is set for Feb. 21 at the Clancy Richard Arena.

During the Family Day weekend, arenas in the Lakeland were alive with community spirit as hockey teams gathered in Cold Lake, Bonnyville, Elk Point and Glendon as part of the regional tournament. 

Throughout the curling season, Tina Skakun competes in various bonspiels, including the annual Ladies Curling Bonspiel, which is taking place this year from March 14-15 at the Lac La Biche Curling Club.

The games took place at Lac La Biche's Bold Centre on Feb. 15 and 16.

The North Eastern Alberta Jr. B Hockey League (NEAJBHL) playoffs officially started last week, with two Lakeland teams facing off in the first round. The St. Paul Canadiens and the Cold Lake are currently playing in a best-of-seven series, and so far, the Canadiens are ahead.

The Voyageurs dropped a 5-2 decision to the Augustana Vikings at the Bold Centre on Feb. 14 and beat their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC0 North Division Rivals the following day during an away match in Camrose. The Voyageurs, who hold last spot in their seven-team ACAC North Division, will be playing their final games of the 2024-25 season on Feb. 21 and 22.

Connor Woods has been ranked the top weight thrower nationally in the U18 category, breaking two Alberta records.
