It was a busy week for the Bonnyville Jr.

Two weeks ago, CBC senior investigative reporter Diana Swain proved that match fixing perpetrated by a global crime syndicate in Europe has occurred in at least one game in the Canadian Soccer League.

The Bengals took to the field under the lights on Saturday night at St. Paul Regional High field, setting the stage for the Lions, with a 33-20 victory over the Cold Lake Royals.

The stands were packed for Saturday night football under the lights in St. Paul and the main event between the Lions and Cold Lake Royals did not disappoint, coming down to the wire in a 34-24 victory for the home team.

The St. Paul Bengals laid last year’s winless season to rest by posting a dominant 48-14 victory over the Lloydminster Chargers in the team’s season opener on Saturday.

The Lions moved to 2-0 this weekend with a 48-19 victory at home over the Lloydminster Holy Rosary Raiders, to follow up on its Aug. 31 win over the Lloydminster Comprehensive High School Barons.

Despite out shooting the Portage College Voyageurs 51 to 25, the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs lost the exhibition game on Aug. 29 3-1.
