Members of the Bonnyville Karate-Do took home 25 medals from the Genbukai Canada karate championship held in Lloydminster this past weekend.
Out of over 300 competitors at the tournament, 41 came from Bonnyville and they really impressed, said Bonnyville Karate-Do Sensei Carry Grant.
"We were very happy with the way our local group represented ourselves at the event," he said.
After tasting success in a smaller tournament held in Wilke last month, competitors from Bonnyville carried the momentum and techniques they've learned throughout the year to the tournament in Lloydminster.
"We did very well," said Grant. "Everyone had a lot of fun. It was a good experience for all the competitors."
A small group from the Bonnyville Karate-Do will travel to Kansas April 29 to compete in a karate tournament.
The entire group will wrap up this season with 'bring a friend night,' a mini tournament and an awards ceremony May 25-27 at the Bonnyville Karate-Do.
