Lakeland Cup wraps up first weekend of competition

Over the Weekend, U15 and U19 division teams participated in the first weekend of the outdoor Lakeland Cup in Cold Lake.

COLD LAKE – Over the Weekend, U15 and U19 division soccer teams participated in the first weekend of the outdoor Lakeland Cup in Cold Lake, from June 17-19. 

In the U19 division, the St. Paul Boys team finished in first place and the Vermilion Boys team earned silver medals. The coed team made up of Bonnyville, Cold Lake and Lac La Biche players finished the weekend with bronze medals. 

The St. Paul Boys team will be representing the Lakeland District at the Alberta Soccer Provincials in July. 

U15 division 

Taking gold medals and a spot to represent the Lakeland District at Alberta Soccer Provincials for the U15 Girls division is the Bonnyville-Lac La Biche Girls team. 

The St. Paul Girls team took second place at the outdoor tournament, while the Vermilion girls' team took home bronze medals. 

Also competing was the Vegreville girls team. 

Earning a spot at Provincials in July and a first-place finish in Cold Lake was the U15 Bonnyville-Lac La Biche Boys team. 

Coming in second place was the coed U15 Cold Lake team with the Vegreville boys finishing in third place. 

The St. Paul boys team finished in fourth place, while the Vermilion boys team finished fifth in the tournament. 

Lakeland Cup Weekend 2 

This weekend, from June 24-26, the U13 and U17 division teams will battle for a provincial spot at the second weekend of the Lakeland Cup outdoor tournament, taking place in Vegreville.
