It was a top finish for Bonnyville's U14 girls and U16 boys soccer teams on their home turf this past weekend, as the both clubs captured gold at the Wetlands Tournament hosted at Bonnyville's Wetlands, Kinsmen and Caouette fields.
The U14 girls defeated the Lac La Biche Screamers in the tournament final to claim gold, while the Bonnyville Bullets U16 boys came out on top of the three-game, round robin style tournament.
Players were treated to warm, sunny weather all weekend, making for ideal soccer conditions at Bonnyville's annual Lakeland District Soccer Association tournament.
Also capturing medals at the tournament were Bonnyville's U16 girls, who finished second to a club from Cold Lake.
Bonnyville's U14 boys finished in fourth place in a tough pool, with Cold Lake clubs coming in first and second.
Bonnyville will host two more Wetlands Tournaments this spring. This weekend the U12s compete in an 8 versus 8 tournament, while on June 9 the town will host its Mini Wetlands Tournament for U6 – U10 age groups.
