NEAT athletes bring home gold

Four Northeast Alberta Track and Field Club (NEAT) athletes came home with medals from the Calgary Spring Challenge and Combined Events Championship at Glenmore Athletic Park on the weekend.

Four Northeast Alberta Track and Field Club (NEAT) athletes came home with medals from the Calgary Spring Challenge and Combined Events Championship at Glenmore Athletic Park on the weekend.

Eric Laramee won gold in the octathalon, an eight-part competition that included 100-metre run, shot put, long jump, 400-metre run, 110-metre hurdle, high jump, javelin, and a 1000-metre run.

Jocelyn Laramee won gold in the midget girls javelin competition and was a strong competitor in 200-metre hurdles, said coaches.

Christian Laramee earned bronze in bantam boys discus throw and had a strong showing in the 1200-metre and 800-metre runs, according to coaches.

Hayley Lucas from Cold Lake won bronze in the women’s heptathalon, which included seven competitive events: 100-metre run, high jump, shot put, 200-metre run, long jump, javelin, and 800-metre run. Lyndsey McDonald took fourth place in the hept-athalon. Colton Lucas had a strong showing in javelin and discus throw, said coaches.
