Teams from across the Lakeland in Lac La Biche for sunny Saturday Soccer Fest

LAC LA BICHE - It was a busy weekend of soccer as the Lac La Biche Football Club hosted the annual Soccer Fest.

On Friday night, teams of U14 to U18 players from across the Lakeland played in twilight games at the Bold Center fields, leading to a long day in the sun on Saturday as youngsters in the U7 to U11 categories played games against each other in a festival-style play where coaches were encouraged to teach as the games rolled along.

Saturday also saw teams in the U13 category from across the Lakeland play in a tournament.

In all Lac La Biche FC estimate they hosted more than two dozen teams over the weekend.

The tournament games are part of the Lakeland District Soccer Association season.  A full listing of the upcoming minor soccer schedule for U13 to U19 teams in the Lakeland can be found at the association's website. The next tournament event for Lakeland teams is a double-header with Vermilion and St. Paul hosting mini tournaments for younger players on the May 27 weekend.
