After admittedly not playing up to par over the past three games, the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs responded with back-to-back shutout wins over the Drayton Valley Thunder at the R.J. Lalonde Arena this weekend.

The Pontiacs topped Drayton Valley 3-0 Friday and followed that up with a 4-0 win over the Thunder Saturday.

With a 9-3 record, the Pontiacs sit third in the Alberta Junior Hockey League's North Division, a point behind both the Spruce Grove Saints and Sherwood Park Crusaders.

The Pontiacs starting goalie tandem of Dylan Wells and Curtis Honey have split time between the pipes this season, with 5-1 and 4-2 records respectively. Wells' shutout Friday and Honey's Saturday were the first of the season for both goalies.

The Pontiacs coaching staff has commended both goalies on several occasions for their play so far this season.

Forward Tommy Barszcz added to his point total with a goal Friday and an assist Saturday, giving him 14 points through 12 games to lead the Pontiacs.

Defenceman Jordon Krankowsky picked up three points over the weekend, scoring a power play goal to open Friday's game and adding an assist on co-captain Kevin Carthy's empty-net goal the same night.

Krankowsky also had an assist on forward Tanner Dusyk's first of two goals in Saturday's win.

Pontiacs forward Ryan Kearns had a three-point weekend as well, picking up a goal and two assists. Forward Austen Hebert added two assists in Saturday's victory.
