Lac La Biche Curling Club’s mixed bonspiel winning team pix added to wrap-up

Teams from Cold Lake, Athabasca, Lac La Biche in final draws

LAC LA BICHE - A full roster of 28 curling teams were on the ice over the weekend for the Lac La Biche Curling Club's mixed bonspiel.

Rinks from across the Lakeland filled the Bold Center's curling sheets for more than 50 games starting last Thursday night and wrapping up with the finals on Sunday afternoon.

A Event:

1st: Corey Leach Rink

2nd Trevor Martin Rink

3rd D. Sawka Rink / 4th  Dylan Maskalyk

B Event

1st Rodney Oullette Rink

2nd Randy Andrashewski Rink

3rd Pat Meyers Rink / 4th Kyle Beniuk Rink

C Event

1st Ken Beniuk Rink

2nd Joshua Wiselka Rink

3rd Maurice Richard Rink / 4th Kevin Gabrael Rink

 

The event was the first, large-scale, full-roster bonspiel for the club since COVID restrictions shuttered most group events.

"It was great to see all the teams on the ice again," said club spokesperson Brenda Robitaille.

The weekend's tournament also saw a return to a social night for teams, with a meal and dance with live music from local band Last Minute.

The A Event winners were Lac La Biche's Corey Leach rink, beating Athabasca's Trevor Martin team. The B Event finals saw Cold Lake's Rodney Oullette team defeat Randy Andrashewski's Lac La Biche team, and the C Event went to Lac La Biche's Ken Beniuk's rink, beating Boyle's Josh Wiselka rink.
