Ball tournament part of this year's Pow Wow Days events

The ball tournament, which consisted of baseball and slo-pitch events, took place from Aug. 2-4 in Lac La Biche.

LAC LA BICHE – Ball teams from near and far were in Lac La Biche from Aug. 2-4 to compete in this year’s Pow Wow Days ball tournament, which consisted of both baseball and slo-pitch events.

According to Ali Fyith, a director with the Lac La Biche Pow Wow Days and Fish Derby Association, for the baseball portion of the tournament, there were four teams in the AA division, along with two teams in the 50+ division.

The slo-pitch event included 15 teams with three divisions.

“Both tourneys had great games and were a lot of fun to watch,” Fyith said.

The Rycroft Rage finished in top spot in the AA division for baseball, while the Peace River Stampeders came in second.

The slo-pitch results are:

First in A category: Thrill

Second in A category: AMC

First in B: AA

Second in B: Janvier

First in C: Rugged Pitches

Second in C: Treaty Six

According to Fyith, organizers plan to put on a ball competition for the 2026 edition of Lac La Biche Pow Wow Days.

“We definitely will be having another tournament next year and we will be looking to grow and expand the dates for more ball action,” he said.
