It was a tough week for the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs, as the squad dropped three straight games in overtime, including an eleven-round shootout loss in Fort McMurray.

The fifth annual Iron Horse Trail Ski Tour may have undergone a change in venue this year, but the ultimate result remained the same – a day of moving swiftly over the snow as a group of like-minded, winter sport enthusiasts.

Bonnyville native Justin Fontaine seems to be getting adjusted to life in the NHL, now midway through his second season as a member of the Minnesota Wild. “It takes time, but I feel pretty comfortable,” said Fontaine after practice on Jan. 27.

Mallaig hosted a Jr. SPAA basketball doubleheader on Jan. 22, with two teams from Kihew Asiniy heading to town for the matchup. The girls were first to take the court, with the home team Stingers amassing a slim 18-14 lead by halftime.
