It was a tough day on the field for the Bonnyville Amateur Football teams, but a huge success off the field, as they raised $19,000 at annual Scott MacDonald charity games this past Saturday.

It was the perfect day for a run. Everyone lucked out on Sept. 25 when warm air and clear skies greeted participants, volunteers and fans for the St. Paul Athletics Association Cross Country Finals, hosted at Westcove.

A new season of North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey is now in full swing, with the St. Paul Canadiens and Saddle Lake Warriors taking to the ice last weekend for their first regular season games of the year.

Although the number 13 may be unlucky to some, for the St. Paul Saints Regional High School girls’ volleyball team, the 13th annual Tazmania volleyball tournament in St. Paul was anything but, as the team was crowned champions of the tournament.

The Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs let one slip away at home on Wednesday night. After dominating the Fort McMurray Oil Barons for the better part of the game, outshooting them 43-22, a couple of late mistakes resulted in a tough 2-1 loss.

The girls stole the show at the Centennial Centre on the weekend. Both the Bonnyville Centralized High School (BCHS) and Notre Dame High School (NDHS) girls' teams came away with medals at the 24-team volleyball tournament on Sept.

The St. Paul Bengals football team hit the road on Sept. 20 for a Bantam matchup against Bonnyville. The Bengals fell behind early, mainly due to two long punt return touchdowns by the home team.

The St. Paul Lions football team suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of the Bonnyville Voyageurs on Sept. 19 in St. Paul. The game was scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m.

The St. Paul Junior B Canadiens played an inter-squad Red and White Scrimmage on Sept. 21 at the Clancy Richard Arena.

A single point is all the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs managed to pick up on Friday night, dropping the home opener 3-2 in a shootout to the Lloydminster Bobcats.
