The stands were packed at the Clancy Richard Arena on Saturday for the arrival of local hockey legend Stan “Steamer” Smyl, who took part in Xtreme Hockey Night in St. Paul, a charity hockey game to raise money for local organizations.

Elk Point native Mark Letestu is well on his way to a career season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. In spite of the shortened season, Letestu is currently five goals and two assists off his totals through 64 games with the Penguins in 2010-11.

This Saturday a number of local hockey greats, including Glendon-born ex-Canucks captain Stan Smyl, will take to the ice at the Clancy Richard Arena for Xtreme Hockey Night in St. Paul. The event will start at 11:30 a.m.

While most have been dreading the extended winter St. Paul has been experiencing, the Lakeland Cross Country Ski Club is on top of the world.

Local ballerina Morgan Gerlinsky is making her mark in the world of dance, and was recently accepted to a summer program at the coveted Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

St. Paul Minor Hockey held it's second annual Timbits Future All-Star Game on March 8. The evening was designed to showcase the development of St. Paul's initiation hockey players on the biggest stage possible . . . and it was a barn burner!

Bonnyville Pontiacs captain and St. Paul native Locke Muller followed up Friday’s series tying 4-3 loss to the Whitecourt Wolverines by saying he will need to be the most physical player on the ice in order to regain the edge in the series.
