NEW YORK (AP) — Denny Laine, a British singer, songwriter and guitarist who performed in an early, pop-oriented version of the Moody Blues and was later Paul McCartney's longtime sideman in the ex-Beatle's solo band Wings, has died at age 79.

An obituary that originally moved Dec. 2 may have left the impression that musician Chad Allan was a co-founding member of Bachman-Turner Overdrive. In fact, he was a co-founding member of the band that later became Bachman-Turner Overdrive.

Celebrated musician Chad Allan, who carved a place in Canadian rock music history for his part in the founding of iconic bands the Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died. He was 80.

MONTREAL — Tributes are pouring in for celebrated Quebec businessman and philanthropist Daniel Langlois after he and his partner were found dead in the Caribbean island nation of Dominica last week.

Toronto-born filmmaker Charles Officer, an expert chronicler of Black Canadian life, has died. The Black Screen Office, which he co-founded, confirmed the death Monday and touted Officer as a gifted storyteller.

Myles Goodwyn, the legendary Canadian musician and songwriter who shot to stardom as the lead singer of April Wine, has died at age 75. His publicist Eric Alper said Goodwyn died Sunday in Halifax. No cause of death was announced.

LONDON (AP) — Glenys Kinnock, a former British cabinet minister, member of the European Parliament and wife of former Labour leader Neil Kinnock, has died. She was 79.

WASHINGTON (AP) — One fall day in 2010, retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor slipped into the courtroom where she worked for nearly 25 years to take in an “amazing” sight.

ATLANTA (AP) — Paul Snyder, the behind-the-scenes architect of the Atlanta Braves' rise to prominence in the 1990s, has died, the team announced Friday. He was 88. Snyder died Thursday night. No cause was given by the Braves.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor , an unwavering voice of moderate conservatism and the first woman to serve on the nation’s highest court, died Friday. She was 93.
