MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have recalled defenceman Arber Xhekaj from the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket, the NHL team announced Monday. Xhekaj had been with the AHL club since being activated off injured reserve Dec. 4.

OTTAWA — Dominique Rhymes is officially back with the Ottawa Redblacks. The CFL team announced Monday it had signed Rhymes to a two-year contract. Rhymes and the B.C. Lions mutually agreed to part ways last week.

TORONTO — Dexter Janke is the new head football coach at York University. The school announced the hiring Monday. Janke, 31, served as the head coach of the Westshore Rebels last season.

TORONTO — Montreal centre Marie-Philip Poulin, New York centre Jade Downie-Landry and Boston centre Alina Muller have been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League's three stars of the week.
