CHARLOTTETOWN — The governing body for hockey in Prince Edward Island announced Friday it has handed down 25-game suspensions to five players accused of hurling racial slurs toward a Nova Scotia goalie last November.

TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs signed goaltender Joseph Woll to a three-year contract extension Friday. Woll, 23, has posted a 5-2-0 record with a 3.32 goals-against average in eight games with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed Canadian linebacker Justin Herdman-Reed on Friday. The six-foot, 235-pound Winnipeg native returns for a second season with Saskatchewan.

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Redblacks agreed to terms on a one-year extension with veteran Canadian Antoine Pruneau on Friday. Pruneau enters his eighth CFL season, all with Ottawa.

TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts signed American quarterback Chad Kelly on Friday. Kelly, 27, is the nephew of Jim Kelly, the former quarterback of the NFL's Buffalo Bills and Pro Football Hall of Fame member.
