1946 – 2022
We are saddened to announce the passing of Rose Mary “Métis Rose” Aastveit on August 23, 2022 at the age of 76 years with her family by her side. Rose fought a hard and short battle with cancer.
Rose is survived by daughters Sharon Bourque (Mike Shorter) of Sherwood Park, AB, Colette (Ross) Nelson of Dawson Creek, B.C.; 3 granddaughters: Kendra, Kaelei and Brenna; sister Barbara, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ole, mother Katie and stepdad Louis, sisters Jessie, Velma, Lottie, special uncle Francis and granddaughter Carly.
Rose travelled the Métis trail and shared her love of jigging and singing along the way. She will most be remembered for her song, “All Shook Up” in Cree.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Mission View Funeral Chapel, Lac La Biche, AB.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Reynars Funeral Home, Dawson Creek, B.C.
