It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kathleen “Kaye” Landsiedel (née McGimpsey). She passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at the Smoky Lake Long Term Care Facility, at the age of 95 years.
She will be lovingly missed by her son, Greg Landsiedel of Parksville, B.C.; daughters, Sherry Uribe of Victoria, B.C., Donna Racine of Sechelt, B.C., and Connie Landsiedel of St. Paul, AB.; granddaughters, Theresa (Sean) Hansen of Hay Lakes, AB., and Lisa (Peter) Zoppa of Cochrane, AB; and great-granddaughters, Nora, Georgia, Fiona and Brooke.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Lizzie McGimpsey; husband, Harold Landsiedel; brothers, Donald, and Robert McGimpsey; daughter, Bonnie (Terrell) Larson; son-in-law, Mike Uribe; and grandson, Joseph Larson.
Kathleen will certainly be remembered for her many volunteer hours in Calgary, Canmore and St. Paul; as well as the teddy bears with knitted sweaters, and children’s aprons she sold at craft shows for many years.
The family would like to thank the staff of the long-term facility of the George McDougall Health Care Center in Smoky Lake, for their gentle and caring attitude during Kathleen’s time there. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the recreation department of their facility, to provide meaningful activities for the residents.
