On February 9, 2021, Melvin Steinhauer of Goodfish Lake passed away in Fort McMurray at the age of 79 years.

He was born in Saddle Lake Cree Nation on February 6, 1942 to Harry & Clara (Cardinal) Steinhauer. He is survived by his wife, Delia; sons, Darryl (Debbie), Dale & Marvin (Amber); grandchildren, Matthew (Jaycie), Tasheena (Ivan Arcand), Trinity, Julianna, Jordan Louison, Jessie Louison, Tara Raine McGilvery & Darius Arcand; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Linkoln & Ashton; siblings, Arnold (Theresa) & Audrey (Gordon Gadwa); brother-in-law, Richard Rehaume; sister-in-law, Victoria Brighteyes; traditionally adopted brother, Richard (Anne) Plodzien of Lucas, Ohio, USA; extended family, Stan Sparklingeyes, Sheila Tremblay, late Jim Whitford, Steve Cheechoo, Mark Staudinger & Dr. Jeff Winterstein. Melvin was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Mary Jane & Nolan Louison; father, Harry; mother, Clara; sisters, Violet (Harry) Cardinal, Eva Rehaume, Caroline (Oscar) Jackson & Rena Halfe; brothers, (twin brother) Marvin, George, Harry Harvey & Allan. 

A Private Family Service was held at Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel, St. Paul. Reverend Robert Wright officiated with interment in Goodfish Lake Community Cemetery, Goodfish Lake.
