The Gazette (St. Albert This Week) has been my go to for local news for 33 years. As a citizen and former City Employee I always have relied on St.Albert This Week to give a snap shot of what is going on locally. I subscribe to CKUA for quality radio and would do the same for St. Albert this week. 1,000 of us for $200 a year would pay fir a couple of reporters with some pocket change left over.

A tough but sound and prudent decision by the Board. Very unusual to make such a decision without a comprehensive fiscal impact analysis that included staff and transportation.

Monday’s work for Council, the public and Admin. If more time is needed for review by Council and the public then back up the internal process by a day and get the agenda’s out Thursday.

Unfortunately our post secondary institutions are dependent on the higher fees for international student to make up for cuts to institutions by the Alberta Government. This seems like more smoke and mirrors to me.

I believe Council should continue it’s practise of setting public hearing dates and advertising all public hearings in the Gazette. The City’s scientifically valid community survey states the newspaper is the most (66%) used form of communication by residents to obtain information about the City. Why provide the option of not using your most used communication vehicle. During the public hearing process for Boudreau Developments Council set dates that aligned with the release of reports. If I remember right Council postponed hearings beyond what admin recommended.

I am sorry to say but I think the Council decision is on non resident user fees is very short sighted and political. As a 30 year resident that does not use a great number of discretionary services in the City it will be irritating to have my grandkids come from Spruce Grove and Calgary and have to pay extra to use recreation services. When I visit their communities I pay normal rates. (Even the Zoo) Council should confront the real issue head on. The problem is Sturgeon County and their philosophical difference in assisting communities with the cost of providing recreational and cultural services. I suggest an honest interest based discussion similar to the one that saw the County contributing $500,000 to Servus Place construction way back in 2004.

This is so so sad to hear! Allison was integral in creating the Arts and Heritage Foundation in St. Albert. I really enjoyed her bright mind, quick whit and modesty. My condolences!

Great to finally have a Loblaws presence in the north end of St. Albert. Also awesome to see a young entrepreneurial couple join the community.

I like the idea of savings $27 Billion to the healthcare system In Canada alone with a 22 Million expenditure! The cost/benefit analysis seems like a no brainer, let alone helping all those with this terrible disease. I’ll be donating!
