These signature experiences provide experiential or hands-on learning opportunities for unique guided-adventure on the land at Métis Crossing,

Additional individual exploration of the land and immersive activities are included in the packages and entail cross country skiing throughout the property and amongst the heritage species wildlife paddocks, snowshoeing along the North Saskatchewan River (snowshoe rentals are available), snowtubing, skating on our outdoor riverside ice rink. Métis cultural interpreters are available to guests to learn from, ask questions, and share experiences with, and interpretive displays, nature trails, and the Métis Historic Village are open to explore.

Vision, Hopes, and Dreams at Métis Crossing Wildlife Park

Winter packages include a two-hour guided tour of the Visions, Hopes and Dreams at Métis Crossing Wildlife Park. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity provides guests the opportunity to experience the beauty of Métis heritage species. The Wildlife Park is home to heritage species who directly impacted the history and culture of Métis people, including rare white bison, wood bison, plains bison, elk, and Percheron horses. This tour will share the story of the Métis people and their connection with the bison, or “bufloo” in Michif, the language of the Métis. The historical relationship between the Métis people and bison stems from the bison hunt that brought thousands of Métis people together each spring and fall.
