Thirty-five gutsy contestants took to the dirt at the St. Paul Ag. Corral on Saturday evening for Bull-A-Rama 2014, and Trach Rodeo President and Event Organizer Steven Trach said it was a thrilling night with a packed crowd.

"There were a lot of fans there, it was a packed house. It was probably record attendance," said Trach. "The people were very excited to see it again. The bulls bucked well, we had a lot of sponsors who came on board for this bull-riding event."

Travis Warburton took home top honours at Bull-A-Rama, registering 162 points on two rides and igniting the crowd at the Ag. Corral with his eight second rides.

Trach added this is the first event of the 2014 season for these bulls, and while none of them have been in action for months he was very pleased with what he saw from the rank beasts.

"That's the first time those bulls have been bucked since Oct. 20, 2013, so some bulls were really good, but not many bulls were sluggish or out of shape," he said. "Overall I was really happy."

The evening also featured a dance in the dirt following the bull riding, and a special wild pony-riding event at intermission that saw kids from the crowd jump in the ring and tame some ponies. Trach added there was so much interest in the wild pony-riding event that it already had a full list of teams before the event started.

Trach made a point of thanking everyone who pitched in to help make Bull-A-Rama a success in St. Paul.

"I would like to say thank you to all the local sponsors that helped make this event very successful. I'd also like to say thank you to the many volunteers that help us out, and to the fans," he said. "Without the sponsors and without the fans, we can't do it."
