A variety of unique and handmade items will be up for grabs at Saturday's craft sale, Dec. 7 at the Rec. Centre.

A long-running event will once again gather crafters, creative minds and shoppers at the St. Paul Rec. Centre during the annual Christmas Craft Sale, scheduled to take place on Dec. 7 at the St. Paul Rec. Centre.

The sale is free for all to attend, but those interested may donate non-perishable items to the food bank. A collection will be set up at the entrance of the Rec. Centre, according to Craft Sale Director, Chris Ostapiw.

“We have 50 vendors, ranging from barn and wood-work types of crafts to a variety of jewelry,” she said.

While many of the vendors are repeats, this year guests can enjoy some new additions. “The new thing that’s going to be there is some stain glass projects, photography and vinyl works,” Ostapiw said.

A concession will also be set up, she said. Some of this year's returning vendors include St. Paul Abilities Network, the local organization brings in a variety of Christmas arrangement to sell each year.

The Visual Arts Centre hosts the event each year, and is also in attendance with some of its locally made products, created by artists involved in the centre.

The event supports all the local artists, including crafters from surrounding areas such as Elk Point, Lac La Biche, Vegreville, Barrhead, and Bonnyville.

The craft sale will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 4:30 p.m. Organizers have been putting together the craft sale since the early 1980s, providing an accessible venue to show and sell handmade wares.

A small business Christmas fair will also be running nearby on Saturday. The event will run along the same hours and will take place at the St. Paul Curling Rink, featuring a variety of vendors and home-based businesses.
