Great turn out for Mannawanis Friendship Centre's annual Christmas supper

Maintaining its theme of inclusion and unity, the Mannawanis Native Friendship Centre’s (MNFC) celebrated the community during its annual Christmas supper on Dec. 15.

ST. PAUL – Maintaining its theme of inclusion and unity, the Mannawanis Native Friendship Centre’s (MNFC) celebrated the community during its annual Christmas supper on Dec. 15 - and over 300 people showed up.

Hinano Rosa, executive director of MNFC, said the supper is a good way to celebrate the season of giving. In addition to the supper, gifts were wrapped for the youth.

"No one left without anything."

Rosa also thanked Arlene Yarmuch, the centre's MMIWG research coordinator, for organizing the event.

Yarmuch said the event was a group effort, thanking her assistant Irene Omeasoo, and other members of the staff including, Luxmanan Kulasingam, Gord Dumais and Val Williams.

The idea behind the supper was simple, said Yarmuch. "It's about the family coming together," and to put smiles on the faces of the children.

Yarmuch thanked the members of the community for taking part in the festivity, and expressed her gratitude to the volunteers, the staff, and the many donors and sponsors from the community for coming together.

"It has been a great night," she said.
