Emergency crews respond to house fire near Vincent Lake

A home near Vincent Lake was significantly damaged on Tuesday (Oct. 22) afternoon. Owners of the house were not home during the fire, and no injuries have been reported, according to a RCMP media release dated Oct. 23.

Owners of the house were not home during the fire, and no injuries have been reported, according to a RCMP media release dated Oct. 23. The cause of the fire is unknown, and the St. Paul fire investigator is assisting with the investigation.

St. Paul Fire Department and the Mallaig Fire Department were both on scene taming the fire that had engulfed the residence.

According to St. Paul's Deputy Chief Henry Thomson, firefighters were on scene for three hours with 12 firefighters from St. Paul and three from Mallaig.

Sgt. David Graham of the St. Paul RCMP said the emergency team believed two family pets had died in the fire, but the pets were both safely located shortly after.

“We are happy that everyone was safe and appreciate all the hard work by our local fire departments," said Graham.
