Hunter disrespects boundaries

To the Editor:

Well, another hunting season has gone by, roads are quiet now, and it’s safe to walk around my own yard. Yes, it’s safe again for another year. Why do I sound so bitter? Well, on Nov. 28, I was looking out my living room window and there in our front yard was a buck. What a nice sight to see. But wait, a buck means a hunter, and yes, along came the hunter.

I ran outside and started shouting, “Don’t you dare, don’t you dare!”

Well, I guess he/she did not hear me because this hunter shot at the buck right in my own yard. This hunter shot from the road about 20 feet from my driveway. I jumped into my vehicle and tried to get the license plate of this great hunter, but when he/she saw me, well, whoever it was drove off like a bat out of hell.

I did report this to the RCMP and to Fish and Wildlife, but they cannot do much without that license plate number. So to this almighty hunter, what you did is unbelievable – you should be ashamed of yourself. What if I had children playing in the yard? Your mother would be so proud of you that you shot into someone’s yard, not knowing what or who was there. You probably thought that no one would be at home.

All you saw was this animal and you wanted to have it. Why? For a trophy head to put on your wall or to be the greatest hunter there ever was. It’s people like you that make all hunters look bad. You got away this time – maybe next time, stick around instead of driving away.
